In any interior design project, excellence lies in the details. The baseboard is not simply a connecting element; it is the silent link that ensures a seamless transition between your floor and wall. The Maison Carocim collection of cement tile baseboards is designed to provide that ultimate signature, that architectural precision that reveals the beauty of your entire floor covering. Choosing a baseboard in the same material as your floor guarantees lasting chromatic and tactile harmony. Manufactured using the same artisanal molding and pressing process, our baseboards share the same depth of color and velvety texture as our tiles, offering a rare and precious visual continuity.

The Architectural Role of Cement Tile Skirting Boards

Integrating a cement tile baseboard allows you to control the space by offering a clean and structured look to the room. Its role revolves around two essential functions: Aesthetic Enhancement: A well-chosen baseboard is a design element in its own right. Perfect Match: For floors with complex patterns, a matching (or neutral) solid baseboard helps to visually soften the floor and provide a clean edge before the wall. Subtle Contrast: For solid floors, the baseboard can be an opportunity to introduce a different profile or an unexpected color (for example, a light gray floor with a black baseboard) to emphasize the room's main lines. Horizon Line: The cement tile baseboard frames the space, providing a solid base that anchors the furniture and unifies the different decorative elements. With the same dimensions as our tiles, our baseboards also allow for perfect tile pattern matching for flawless aesthetics. Technical Wall Protection: Beyond aesthetics, baseboards are an essential barrier for the longevity of your walls. Moisture Barrier: When cleaning floors, baseboards protect the base of the wall from water splashes and mop moisture. Impact Protection: They absorb minor everyday impacts (vacuum cleaner, chair legs, toys), thus preserving the integrity of the paint or wallpaper. Technical Concealment: They conceal the perimeter expansion joint between the screed and the wall, necessary for proper installation.

Our Formats and Profiles: The Choice of Precision

Our collection is designed to adapt to all configurations and style preferences. The Traditional Model: The Molded Profile. This is the historical profile of the cement tile baseboard. Its top is shaped with a concave line enhanced by two semicircles, the upper one slightly recessed. Advantage: It offers a smooth and aesthetically pleasing finish, making the thickness of the baseboard less noticeable. The chamfered top edge facilitates maintenance by preventing dust accumulation on a sharp edge. Use: Ideal for complementing our Classics collections, it integrates perfectly into Haussmannian interiors or grand houses seeking to combine style and tradition. The Standard Model: The Cove Profile (Bullnose). This is the standard profile of the cement tile baseboard. Its top is shaped with a gentle quarter-round (called a "bullnose"). Advantage: It offers a soft, simple finish, making the baseboard's thickness virtually invisible. The top chamfer subtly reflects light and facilitates maintenance by preventing dust accumulation on a sharp edge. Use: Ideal for complementing our simpler collections, or reminiscent of Cézanne's work, it integrates perfectly into more minimalist and natural interiors and heritage renovation projects. The Contemporary Model: The Straight Profile. A baseboard with a straight, sharp top edge. Advantage: It accentuates the graphic effect, better suited to clean, minimalist designs. It reinforces the verticality of the wall. Use: Perfect for pairing with the Sim.pl or (RE).visités collections, it brings a modern rigor to lofts and contemporary spaces. The Standard Height. Our cement tile baseboards are generally offered in a height of 10 cm, the ideal size that combines discretion, effective wall protection, and respect for architectural proportions. They are offered in our floor thickness (16 mm) to ensure maximum strength and longevity.

A Question of Matter and Chromatic Coherence

Each Carocim cement tile skirting board is manufactured in the same pigment baths as the floor tiles. If you order a solid Midnight Blue for your floor, the corresponding skirting board will guarantee a perfect color match, with the same rich chromatic quality derived from natural pigments. Whether you choose a skirting board in the same color as your floor (for a harmonious "block" effect) or in the color of a pattern on your tile (for an elegant echo), the Carocim skirting board ensures a floor-to-wall finish where the quality of the material is truly showcased.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Carocim Skirting Boards: The Elegance of a Cement Tile Finish collection

Should the baseboard be the same color as the floor?

It's an aesthetic choice. Matching the baseboard to the floor creates a "pool" effect that visually enlarges the floor space. Conversely, choosing a contrasting baseboard (or one that matches a tile pattern) highlights the room's architecture and creates an elegant graphic frame.

How to deal with protruding corners when using cement baseboards?

Since the cement tile skirting board is colored throughout, the edge is also colored, which is an advantage. However, for a perfect finish, we recommend a miter cut (45° cut) at the corners. This requires precise tools (electric wet saw), but the result is incomparably more aesthetically pleasing than a butt joint installation.

What is the thickness of Carocim skirting boards?

Our skirting boards are generally the same thickness as our floor tiles, namely 16 mm. This robustness is necessary to withstand impacts (vacuum cleaner, furniture legs). This means they create a slight raised edge against the wall, highlighting their manufactured and solid character.

How do I calculate the quantity of baseboards needed?

Unlike floor space (m²), we work in linear meters. Measure the perimeter of the room, subtract the width of the doorways. Divide this figure by 0.20 (the width of a 20cm baseboard). Important: allow an additional 10 to 15% safety margin, as corner cuts generate more waste than straight installation.

Does the "round edge" profile have any purpose other than aesthetics?

Yes. The rounded (or "grooved") profile on the top of the baseboard prevents dust accumulation, unlike a straight edge. It's a traditional finishing detail in bourgeois homes that facilitates daily maintenance while softening the visual transition to the wall.
