Carocim x Margaux Keller: When Design Awakens Memory

Some collaborations flow naturally, like a conversation between friends under a pine tree. The encounter between Maison Carocim and Marseille-based designer Margaux Keller is one of these. It was born from a shared desire: to tell the story of the South, not as a static postcard, but as a living, emotional, and resolutely contemporary territory. By inviting Margaux Keller to lend her perspective to our cement tiles, we wanted to combine our centuries-old expertise with her poetic vision of design. The result is a collection that speaks to the heart, awakening in each of us that famous "collective memory" so dear to her.

Margaux Keller: The Elegance of Emotion

A renowned designer and interior architect, Margaux Keller has forged a unique path in the French design landscape. Trained at the prestigious École Boulle and then ENSAD, she honed her skills at Philippe Starck's agency and Fabrica in Italy before founding her own studio. Her approach is singular: she seeks above all to "evoke emotion." Far from cold minimalism, her work is imbued with poetry, humor, and great sensitivity. Elegance, unconventionality, and eco-design are the cornerstones of her practice. Whether collaborating with prestigious brands like Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, Dior Parfums, or Roche Bobois, or producing her own pieces under "Margaux Keller Collections," she always places people and craftsmanship at the heart of her work. It is this spirit that we wanted to capture.

An Ode to Provence and Artisanal Know-How

For Carocim, Margaux Keller immersed herself in our Provençal roots. She drew inspiration from childhood memories, walks in the garrigue, and the vernacular architecture of the South. Cement tiles, with their mineral and velvety texture, emerged as the ideal medium for her artistic expression. "I love the idea that the floor tells a story, that it's not just a surface we walk on, but a landscape we traverse," she explains. Together, we worked on color and form to create patterns that are not simple geometric repetitions, but evocations. The vibrancy of our natural pigments, dyed throughout by our artisans, brings her designs to life with a depth that only the human hand can provide.

Toumeto: The Memory of the Tomette Reinvented

The result of this encounter is the "Toumeto" collection. A name that sings, evoking the traditional Provençal terracotta tile ("tomette" in Provençal). Margaux Keller deconstructed this iconic hexagonal shape and recomposed it in a modern style. She plays with scale, solids and voids, creating visual rhythms reminiscent of the weaving of a wicker basket or the shadows cast by shutters. It is a subtle and joyful homage to our heritage, treated with the freshness of a new perspective.

A Design That Brings a Smile to Everyday Life

Choosing a Margaux Keller design for Carocim means bringing a touch of poetry into your everyday life. It means accepting that your kitchen floor or bathroom wall can become a space for expressive expression. This collaboration perfectly embodies our vision: to be a decor manufacturer that respects the past while embracing contemporary design. With Margaux, the cement tile becomes a design object in its own right, capable of surprising and, above all, bringing a smile.
