Marta Pignol: A Sensitive Vision in Service of Carocim

At the helm of Maison Carocim's artistic direction since 2022, Marta Pignol brings a unique perspective, informed by her dual cultural background and international experience. Born in Brazil, she grew up between her native country and the United States, a formative experience that shaped her perception of materials, color, and space. Her approach to design is not one of rupture, but of respectful continuity. Marta Pignol is committed to preserving the soul of our Aix-based company while delicately opening it to new graphic horizons. It is a balancing act, carried out with humility and precision, where the artisanal touch always remains central to the creative process.

A Journey Between Architecture and Art History

Marta Pignol's training forms the foundation of her current approach. After graduating with a degree in architecture in Brazil (PUC), she chose to deepen her understanding of form and aesthetics in the United States. Her studies, enriched by a degree in Art History (NYU), allowed her to refine her eye and develop a particular sensitivity to light and composition. These years of study and practice forged a rigorous working method. Complemented by technical training in lighting design and scenography, her expertise allows her to consider cement tiles not only as decorative objects, but as structural elements of architectural space. She understands how the material interacts with light and how a pattern can alter the perception of a room. Based in France for nearly twenty years, Marta Pignol has explored diverse creative fields – from architecture to fashion, and including wellness. This cross-functionality gives him a global vision, attentive to both large volumes and the smallest finishing details.

Preserve and Renew: A Mission of Transmission

Upon joining Carocim, Marta Pignol set herself the task of creating a dialogue between the house's heritage and a contemporary aesthetic. Her role is that of a discreet conductor: she guides the evolution of the collections without ever betraying the brand's DNA. Under her guidance, our archives are being revisited with a fresh perspective. She explores new creative avenues, always seeking authenticity rather than fleeting trends. It's a thoughtful and understated approach, aiming to ensure the enduring appeal of cement tiles. Enjoying spending time in the workshop, she works closely with our artisans to research specific colors and develop ranges where the tradition of handcraftsmanship meets a more open and daring graphic vision.

Collections Imbued with Sensitivity

The creations initiated by Marta Pignol bear witness to this quest for balance. Whether it's the Sur.Real collection, which invites the imagination with its poetic motifs (the Elephant, the Hand), or the homage paid to the master of Aix-en-Provence with the Cézanne Chez Lui series, each project is driven by a sincere intention. She favors soft hues, tactile materials, and patterns that tell a story. For Marta Pignol, a cement tile floor should be a place of well-being, a reassuring anchor in the home. It is this "people-first" vision, centered on human interaction and function, that guides each of her artistic choices.

An Artistic Direction Focused on the Future

Today, Marta Pignol continues to write a new chapter in our history with the entire Carocim team. Her keen eye and international background help to showcase our expertise, offering décor where tradition and contemporary design coexist naturally and elegantly.
