FAQ

Vos questions fréquentes

Does prolonged sun exposure damage Carreau Hex Kaleidoscope Hibou?

Handcrafted does not mean fragile: Kaleidoscope Hibou carries its black and beige pigments in the tile's mass, and Carocim systematically adds an anti-UV treatment to its outdoor cement tiles. So protected, the hexagon keeps its real colours in the sun rather than fading faster than ceramic. Rated for exterior use, it simply asks for regular sealing and gentle cleaning.

Can bleach be used on Carreau Hex Kaleidoscope Hibou?

bleach, ever: on a cement tile like Kaleidoscope Hibou, bleach and acids etch the mineral surface and dull the black and beige kaleidoscope facets. Stick to neutral soap in warm water for routine cleaning, treat stains promptly, and renew the sealer periodically. Follow those simple rules and your Carocim hexagon will age beautifully.

Which sealer product should be used on Carreau Hex Kaleidoscope Hibou?

Skipping the sealer is the one shortcut to avoid: unsealed, a cement tile stays porous, so water, grease and grout haze can sink into the surface of Kaleidoscope Hibou and mark the black and beige pattern. Apply a pore-filling water and oil repellent before grouting, and this Carocim hexagon becomes easy to live with and simple to clean.

Is the pattern of Carreau Hex Kaleidoscope Hibou printed on or set into the body of the tile?

Yes, it reads unmistakably modern: the Kaleidoscope Hibou pattern strips the kaleidoscope down to sharp triangular facets, and its restrained black and beige duo replaces ornament with pure graphic rhythm. Drawn by Coco Brun & Aurélia Paoli for Carocim's Coco Brun collection, this hexagonal cement tile turns a traditional craft into a bold, sophisticated contemporary statement.

Can Carreau Hex Kaleidoscope Hibou be laid over existing tiling?

Overlaying existing tiles works when the base is sound: verify the old floor is stable, clean and grease-free, apply a bonding primer, then fix Kaleidoscope Hibou with double buttering and fine joints. Account for the added 16 mm of this Carocim cement tile at doors and thresholds, and seal the surface before grouting as usual.
