Déscription du carreau Tile the Mouth

The Mouth is part of the SU.Real collection, designed by Marta Pignol for Carocim®, from the "Flavors" picture book. In Surrealism, the mouth is simultaneously an object of desire, a source of pleasures diverted from taste, oscillating between sensuality, humor, and memory. It explores the symbolism of liberated or perverted speech, and a fragment of the body staged like a dream. A nod to our gourmand instincts.

Each tile is handcrafted using a demanding artisanal method. Composed of cement, sand, marble powder, and natural pigments, it is made without firing, using minimal water. Its texture and any slight irregularities reveal the artisan's touch and enhance its uniqueness.

FAQ

Vos questions fréquentes

Is the cement in Carreau la Bouche coloured all the way through?

16 mm thick, including a pigmented wear layer on the surface: that is the traditional structure of this Carocim cement tile. The red, black and beige pigments are poured into the divider then pressed with the tile body, without firing. Colour is thus an integral part of the visible face, following the house's artisanal know-how, handed down maker to maker.

What shapes make up the pattern of Carreau la Bouche?

Within the SU.Real collection designed by Marta Pignol for Carocim, this cement tile sports an unapologetically figurative motif: a smiling mouth with bold outlines, rendered in red and black on a beige ground. The curves of the lips fill the whole 20 x 20 cm square. A daring, glamorous, expressive look, with a wink to surrealism.

How do I cut Carreau la Bouche without breaking it?

Yes, cutting is entirely manageable: use a grinder with a diamond disc or an electric wet tile cutter, moving forward without forcing. The 16 mm thickness of this Carocim cement tile calls for steady passes rather than brute pressure. Mark your line in pencil on the beige face, cut face up and deburr gently — rushing is the main mistake to avoid.

Why does Carreau la Bouche stand up so well to the sun?

Its resistance comes from the anti-UV treatment Carocim systematically applies to tiles intended for outdoor use, which this one is. The intense red, the black and the beige of this cement tile are thus protected against discolouration. Marta Pignol's glamorous mouth keeps its bite, even on a south-facing terrace.

Can Carreau la Bouche be used around a swimming pool?

€245.70 per m²: an investment all the more justified since this cement tile is made for outdoor use as well. Around a pool or behind a hob, apply the water- and oil-repellent pore sealer carefully and clean with pH-neutral soap, never acid or bleach. Carocim's red and black mouth motif will steal the show.
