Malachite Sun Tile

Yes, there is a clear lineage: Carreau Soleil Malachite belongs to the contemporary era of cement tile design, its abstract stylised sun drawn by Coco Brun & Aurélia Paoli for Carocim's Coco Brun collection. Rather than copying nineteenth-century ornament, the malachite green and beige rays reinterpret the craft's heritage with a fresh, botanical, light-filled modern eye.

Behind Carreau Soleil Malachite stands the duo Coco Brun & Aurélia Paoli, authors of the entire Coco Brun collection at Carocim: the Soleil series, the Palmier palms and the Kaleidoscope hexagons all carry their signature. That common graphic language makes it easy to combine several of their cement tile designs within one coherent interior.

€220.50 per square metre, and the sun cannot undo it: Carreau Soleil Malachite is rated for exterior use and protected by the anti-UV treatment Carocim systematically applies to its outdoor cement tiles. Years of exposure leave the malachite green and beige rays true to their real colours, with only the soft mineral patina natural to the material.

Grout should frame, never compete: with Carreau Soleil Malachite, a fine joint in a neutral tone close to the beige background lets the malachite sun rays flow uninterrupted from tile to tile. Avoid stark white or strongly pigmented grouts that could grid the design or stain this handcrafted Carocim cement tile; always seal before grouting.

Yes, small tolerances exist and are normal: each Carreau Soleil Malachite is moulded and pressed by hand around its nominal 20 x 20 cm and 16 mm thickness, so tiny artisanal differences occur between tiles. Fine joints and double buttering absorb them completely, which is standard practice for laying any handcrafted Carocim cement tile.
